3 Months Down

May 30th was 13 weeks since surgery. I can't believe it's been three months already. Sorry for not posting regularly the last couple weeks. My dad was here visiting for two weeks and I'm also home sick with a cold, but I will try to be more consistent. My dad has been very supportive, but he hadn't seen me or seen me eat since surgery, so I was curious what his reaction would be when he saw how little and how frequently I had to eat. I think at first he was a little surprised but quickly got used to it. He was definitely super proud of my progress and very happy for me. I had a lot of leftovers from restaurants while he was here, lol, and sometimes had to remind everyone that I needed to eat, even if they weren't hungry yet. But it was totally fine. Dad and I took a mini road trip to Rapid City to recreate a trip that we took in 2003. It was a pleasant drive up, but the motel was terrible and we ended up driving home Sunday night instead of Monday morning. I knew th...

Six Months!!!

Six months! Six whole months! via GIPHY Whoop whoop whoop!!! Yesterday was my 6-month surgiversary. I have been really crap at keeping up with life, let alone this blog. Apologies! Allow me to catch you up on my journey. In June I flew to Chicago for a conference and barely need a seat belt extender. I had a great time tromping around Chicago, though I was not able to do as much as I wanted. My hotel was like 4 blocks from the Bean, and I couldn’t make it down to see it (it is new since the last time I was in Chicago), but I did make it to a game at Wrigley Field. The new job has been crazy busy, and I am running to keep up, but also loving it. I love being able to help people in a meaningful way. I finally feel like I am flourishing, and it feels so good. Between the weight loss and improved health and the new job, I am loving life! However, I have been dealing with a few things. Six Week Check In

Tomorrow I have my six week check in. Hopefully they will clear me to exercise and also give me the ok to start the solid food phase, also known as the rest of my life. I'm excited, but also not sure what I want to eat first. One thing I am looking forward to is to start going to the gym again. I can't wait to lift weights. I've noticed that weight has been coming off pretty quick since I went back to work and have been more active. Today I have been doing a lot of meal prep. I made egg muffins with ground chicken, reduced fat shredded cheese and spinach, ground beef patties and taco meat. I was planning to make a ricotta bake that everyone raves about, but I couldn't start cooking as soon as I wanted to. So, hopefully I can make that tomorrow when I come home after my first day in my new position!
