The Big 5-0!!!

Boy, things have been going great lately. I have to admit, it hasn't all been sunshine and roses. I've had my moments of doubt and anxiety, I've not always done great at preparing food and no, I'm just not perfect. I know...shocking! But overall, things are fabulous! The last month has gone so fast. I've been ridiculously busy at work, but feel a real sense of purpose. I feel joy because I am helping people. And, as much as I hate to admit this, all the crap I have gone through in the past has lead me here, to where I'm supposed to be. I have been meeting with a coach recently to help me work some things out, and I discovered when we talked yesterday that I don't have patterns for these circumstances. Meaning, I need to come up with new emotions to describe what I am feeling and make new pathways in my brain for these new reactions. I started thinking about what I have been feeling. Joy. 3 Months Down

May 30th was 13 weeks since surgery. I can't believe it's been three months already. Sorry for not posting regularly the last couple weeks. My dad was here visiting for two weeks and I'm also home sick with a cold, but I will try to be more consistent. My dad has been very supportive, but he hadn't seen me or seen me eat since surgery, so I was curious what his reaction would be when he saw how little and how frequently I had to eat. I think at first he was a little surprised but quickly got used to it. He was definitely super proud of my progress and very happy for me. I had a lot of leftovers from restaurants while he was here, lol, and sometimes had to remind everyone that I needed to eat, even if they weren't hungry yet. But it was totally fine. Dad and I took a mini road trip to Rapid City to recreate a trip that we took in 2003. I have struggled with weight all of my life. Well, almost. I was a normal sized baby, but by the time I was 2.5 I was already 50 pounds. By the time I was 6 I weighed 89 pounds (44 is average) and by the time I was 11 I weighed 200. I always thought that my weight trouble started at 9 when I hit puberty, but reading back through my medical records, I realized that it started much earlier. I have a new appreciation for my childhood doctor after reading through all the notes he took, trying to get my parents to get serious about my weight. He wanted them to take me to a dietitian at the hospital and to help me get more active. It never really happened. He also recommended that I think about a gastric bypass when I was in my last couple years of school, but it was pretty new and I still thought that all I had to do was eat less and I would lose weight, though thinking back now, I see the stupidity in that thinking.
